PermalinkI see that other people are able to upload images to use as their avatars, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Yeah, I need to post the support FAQ, don't I? ;)
We use Gravatars to handle our avatars. It's a service used by many websites, including eg. Wordpress blogs, so many people already have one. You can sign up there and upload a pic which will appear here on Growstuff, and on any other site that supports gravatars.
Sorry for not documenting it sooner. I'll get working on it!
Oh, thanks for the info, Skud, this had been driving me up a wall too! I quit using Gravatar last year when it got absorbed into Wordpress in such a way that they started tracking all comments made with the Gravatar email address across all Wordpress.com blogs. Have to think about whether i want to start using it again. Suppose i could just use a different email address here. Hmmm.
It does support using multiple email addresses, so you could do that, yeah. We will probably try and have some other option for avatars in futureā¦ this was just the simplest possible option to get things up and running.
Thanks for this response! I'd never used or heard of Gravatar before, I had no idea.
Thanks for this post - I would have looked in the FAQ eventually but I saw this first in the forum posts and got meself sorted for an avatar quickly that way.
