PermalinkI am a terrible gardener but every year around this time I get a bee in my bonnet anyway, so I have tried again! (I am also the world's laziest gardener, which doesn't help.)
We've had late frosts (and snows!) this year, so since today finally felt like spring, I put in some dollar-store seeds. I've not had much lcuk growing vegetables from seed, so this year I'm actually starting them in peat pots! Maybe that will give them a chance.

Best of luck with your seeds! I am terrible at growing things from seed so can't offer advice, but good seed starting mixture seems to help a lot.
Thanks! I'm hoping I'll at least manage beans; I managed beans when I was in elementary school…
Dollar store seeds are surprisingly robust! My current mesclun mix started from dollar store seed. I have no experience using peat pots but I pretty much exclusively start all my veggies from seed. I can say that beans are pretty easy to grow and they grow fast once it gets really warm. In zone 7A, you can plant them directly in the ground if you have some leftover and the peat pots don't work out. (I don't see why they wouldn't though…?)
Well, I managed to fail at beans last year, but they were beans from The Jar In The Crafting Cupboard, so probably dollar-store ones are a step up in quality! (And half of the ones from The Jar did sprout, they just didn't do anything else.)
