PermalinkHowdy,
I'm on the hunt for a tangerine tree or cutting should someone have an established tree. I've tried a few local nurseries and even Bunnings with no luck.
Places seem to think offering me some other type of citrus and an acceptable alternative however it has to be the Citrus tangerina although Wiki says people list it as a subspecies of mandarin (Citrus reticulata).
Two possibles:
Citrus Reticulata Blanco Var Tangerina
Citrus tangerina Tanaka
Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Huh. I've been googling around on your behalf, and it looks like they're extremely hard to come by. I looked for citrus-specialist nurseries and I only found one in Australia that stocked them: this specialist wholesaler in NSW. It'd probably be a right royal PITA to get a tree from them to you, but maybe you could call them and tell them what you're looking for, and they might have some suggestions of specialists in WA?
Thanks, there is a citrus wholesaler in Perth called Citrees however they've said to contact them around christmas. The nursery who put me onto them has offered to graft a cutting if I can get a hold of one too.
Strangely enough, I want one because scientific studies have found that tangerine flavinoids have been found to help with obesity in mice, similar to grapefruit. Knowing how long they take to grow I want to get a hold of one. Plus tangerines taste nicer than grapefruit :P
