PermalinkI was looking at a planting page, and couldn't find many actions from there. E.g. on http://growstuff.org/plantings/cesy-planter-boxes-lavender, there's no button to harvest. I have to go to my harvests to create a new harvest. Can we add a link for that, please?
Also, what do I do when a plant dies? Is there any way to mark a planting as no longer existing? It looks like this will be covered by the future feature to mark a planting as finished - ID 46972853 in PivotalTracker - is that right?

Yup, "finished" is what you would do with dead plants, and is currently in progress.
Linking harvests to plantings is more complicated than it seems, and requires some design work and discussion that hasn't happened yet. Basically, imagine the case where you planted some tomatoes this week, some next week, and some the week after. Then come the end of summer you're harvesting tomatoes and you get 1kg of tomatoes from all three plantings. Nobody wants to have to break that harvest down into three sections by which planting they came from. So we need to do some kind of thing where a harvest can belong to many plantings, but where the UI also supports eg. clicking from "harvest this" on a tomato planting. What should happen if you're looking at tomato planting A, and you click "harvest this"? Does that imply that you're picking only from that planting, or should you be allowed to add "oh and also these other plantings B and C of the same thing"?
Just to add (for anyone following along) that I have written some code for this, here, and it's going through the review/testing process and should be available on Growstuff soonish :)
Regarding "finished" …
I planted 8 seed potatoes. I got 7 potato plants. One just went dud. Do you have a plan for how to indicate that some of a planting died?
@maco we don't have a design for that as yet. It would also be useful for the situation where you have harvested some of it, especially where you eat the whole plant. It would be a good thing to discuss with the other developers, I think, to consider how to implement it.
