Aleppo, or Halaby, pepper is a variety of Capsicum annuum used as a spice in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. The plant's pods are semi-dried, de-seeded, and then coarsely ground. The resulting spice is slightly oilier and milder than red pepper flakes and has notes of raisin.
