New asparagus bed put in in a "special" bed - full sun at noon in midsummer, full shade at noon in winter, and in fact shaded almost completely for most of winter. Soil was the partly-improved stuff I made for the main bed last year that's been sitting for six months. Root clumps are from my mum's garden, long-established plants with good tuber stock. Will see how they transplant.
